Privacy Policy

How the Rome Democratic Committee collects, uses, and protects your information — including our text messaging program.

Effective date: July 17, 2026

The City of Rome Democratic Committee ("Rome Democrats," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to romedemocrats.com and to our email and SMS/text messaging programs.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us — for example, when you sign up for updates, volunteer, RSVP to an event, contact us, or opt in to receive text messages. This may include your name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address (including city/ward), and any message you send us.

When you make a contribution, payments are processed by ActBlue; we receive the contribution information required to comply with campaign finance law. We may also collect limited technical information automatically when you visit our website, such as your browser type and general usage data.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

SMS / Text Messaging Program

Consent & opt-in

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in — through a sign-up form on our website, a paper or digital volunteer form, at an event, or by texting a keyword or replying to a message — you consent to receive recurring automated marketing and informational text messages (such as campaign updates, event invitations, volunteer requests, and get-out-the-vote reminders) from the Rome Democratic Committee at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of any purchase or contribution.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies.

Costs

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier's standard messaging and data charges may apply to each message; please contact your carrier for details about your plan.

Opting out & getting help

You can cancel the text messaging service at any time by texting STOP to the number from which you received the message. After you send STOP, we will send you a one-time message confirming that you have been unsubscribed; you will no longer receive text messages from us unless you opt in again.

For help, text HELP to the number from which you received the message, or email info@RomeDemocrats.com.

Carriers & delivery

Message delivery is subject to your mobile carrier's transmission. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and we are not responsible for any delays, failures in delivery, or issues arising from the transmission or receipt of text messages.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except with the service providers we use to operate the messaging program (for example, our messaging platform), who are contractually bound to keep it confidential.

How We Share Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information with trusted service providers who perform services on our behalf (such as our email and text messaging platform and our contribution processor), and only to the extent needed to provide those services. We may also disclose information if required by law, such as to comply with campaign finance reporting obligations or a valid legal request.

As noted above, mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in/consent data are never shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

Email Communications

If you subscribe to our email updates, you may unsubscribe at any time using the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing info@RomeDemocrats.com.

Service Providers

These providers handle data on our behalf under their own privacy and security terms and are not permitted to use your information for their own marketing.

Data Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
